Smartphone giant Blackberry has announced their latest mobile Operating System (OS) Blackberry 10 (BB 10) to be released on March 2013 with a bunch new features, the most attractive of them would be the Work-Life balance technology named ‘BlackBerry Balance’. Balance Technology is designed to help you separate your personal and work data, ie; it allows two personas exist on your Smartphone – one each for work and personal use.
More than to individuals it will be useful to corporate who want to keep their employees follow company security policies while allow workforce to bring their own smart devices to office.
Blackberry Balance will strengthen Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy
Balance feature would be more attractive when we think about the ‘Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)’ initiative started by companies like Intel, Cisco, Microsoft etc. As per this policy employees are encouraged to bring their own smart devices to office while allowing them to work on their own devices for the employer.
This new policy may help companies to cut their IT purchase budgets effectively but at the same time it is risky to let employees use their personal devices at work, considering the security threat to sensitive corporate data. In this situation applications like Balance can help segregate personal and business data from one another with a secure wall.
Balance technology enables IT administrators to configure employee or corporate blackberry devices as per the company policy so that the access to corporate data will be restricted from personal apps. So in simple words, users’ personal apps cannot access work information, and work information can’t be copied and pasted to personal apps or email messages.
This feature will bring a smile to workforces as it will help them connected with their social contacts at work place while keeping a single phone for both personal and official communications.

Secure work information on employee owned devices
Another feature of Balance is that it enables IT admins to wipe all the work information on Blackberry devices remotely. This will comes useful when an employee using blackberry device leave the organization, the device is lost or stolen for that matter.
At present Blackberry balance made available only for Blackberry devices, while the company expects Balance technology helps bring them more business.
